Concept of Life After Death
The belief in life after death is deeply rooted in many religions. In Islam, life after death (Ākhirah) is a fundamental belief and one of the core pillars of faith. According to Islamic belief, life in this world is temporary and serves as a test for the Hereafter. When a person dies, the soul separates from the body and enters an intermediate stage known as Barzakh, where it remains until the Day of Judgment. In the soul’s journey this world is only a temporary station where we stay for a very short time. We existed before coming into this world, and we will continue to exist after departing from this world. On the Judgement Day, every individual will be resurrected and presented before Allah (God) for judgment. Each person’s eternal destiny will be determined by their faith, deeds, and intentions.
“Every soul shall taste death, and only on the Day of Resurrection will you be paid your full recompense. Whoever is removed from the Fire and admitted to Paradise has certainly attained success.”
